Our Story
We are dedicated to delivering comprehensive and reliable information on the container shipping supply chain. Our view is that all participants benefit from the best factual information on what has already actually occurred. Unfortunately, there are too many examples of certain information being presented as actual when it is an inaccurate or flawed estimate. Our information empowers our subscribers to make more informed decisions.
John D. McCown is the author of The McCown Report and also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Center for Maritime Strategy, the Navy League’s think tank. He is a recognized expert in container shipping with four decades of senior operating and investment experience in the sector, including CEO of a container shipping carrier and managing transport investments at a $20 billion hedge fund. Mr. McCown now advises, lectures and writes about maritime issues. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is also the holder of two patents, one related to container cargo handling and another related to vessel propulsion. Mr. McCown worked closely with transportation pioneer Malcom McLean, the inventor of container shipping, for twenty years.
Our experienced leadership brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the container shipping from four decades of experience in the sector from both an operating and investment perspective. We are focused on developing additional products that will assist shippers with factual information on a sector that has been more opaque than it should be.
